Hours of Fun with the
Kay Kay
This easy to find ferret toy will entertain
you and your ferret for hours. Watch as ferrets grab
the "kay kay" as it's called with a body
hug and drag it backwards. The kay kay brings out
a dragging instinct in every ferret. Ferrets will
drag and drag backwards without really knowing why,
just knowing it feels right.
Price: about $.89 after you strip the
paper off the roll |

More Fun with Ferret Toys
Another ferret classic is the plastic
bottle cap. This can not only be dragged and pushed
around by your ferret, but also serves to hone his
ferreting instincts. Yes, just leave a few of these
around and after tossing them about for a few days,
your ferret will hide them safely away in hidden corners
of your home.
Price: $.89 including soda for you.

Your ferret's worst enemy
Turn this one on and watch your
ferret become the fighting machine he's known to be
in the wild. Like a bloodhound on a trail, your ferret
won't let the business end of this ferret toy out
of his sight or far from his nose as he follows it
across the room. This is a team effort, since owner
must operate toy for the game to really work.
Price: $200 and up, depending on
how much you want to pamper your ferret. Bonus is,
you get clean floors everytime you play.

Favorite Spot to Hang Out
A ferret hammock is essential. Once you string up one of these and show it to your little pal, he'll spend 80% of his sleeping time in there. Hammocks make ferrets feel that everything is ok with the world, that they are safe. If you have a hammock curled up around you while you sleep, no enemy on earth can get to you, if you're a ferret. Wash often.

Scoopable Sand
High quality scoopable litter sand is absolutely required. Ferrets are prolific and you need all the breaks you can get. Don't buy cheap because this is not an area where you want to try and save a few pennies. For the tiny amount of money you will save by buying cheap brand scoopable litter, you will bring upon yourself many headaches and disgusting occurrences. For a little more money, get the good stuff. Makes lifting those little sculptures out really easy, quick, and odorless.

A Rug or Carpet or even a Doormat or Bath Rug
Ferrets like to sprawl out and ooze along the floor on a textured surface like a carpet. We call it swimming. They like carpets do this on. Who knows what the ferret thinks he's doing...maybe cleaning off his belly, maybe scratching his body, or giving himself a little massage, or maybe even marking the carpet. Sometimes they'll run to a carpet after eating something sticky, and clean their faces off on it. For this reason, you might just want to get a cheap small carpet for ferrets, one you can wash. As you can see, ferrets really like oriental carpets, too.

A Hoodie
Like parents with front-loading baby pack strap-ons, ferret owners also like to keep their ferrets close to them. Hoodies are great for carrying your ferret around while developing a close relationship and bonding with him at the same time. Like children, however, not all of them will take to this mode of transportation. Some ferrets will just curl up and sleep away in your hoodie, while others may end up panicking and climbing out to make the big drop off jump. Try acclimating your ferret to the hoodie by kidnapping him while he's sleeping. Don't wake him up, just carefully gently place him in the hoodie and he'll never know.

A Box or Two or Three
There's nothing like a box to entertain a ferret. Cereal boxes, small cardboard boxes, pizza boxes, keep 'em coming, the more the better. Keep lots of boxes in rotation, like an art collection at a museum...ferrets like new boxes, and after a while a box will become "stale" and boring so it will just be another piece of junk on the floor. If a box becomes stale, move it or stack it with other boxes in a corner and to your ferret, it's a whole new box. After this, throw it out and you'll get more boxes. Fresh boxes. Some boxes become permanent second homes for your ferret, though. Put a rag in the box and voilá! you have a home and a ferret blocker all in one. (Ferret blockers are things that smell like your ferret, from his bedding, which you place in an area where you don't want him to go to the bathroom).
